Mount St. Helens: Evidence of Catastrophe

Description: Using 2 Peter 3:3-6 as a springboard, lessons are drawn from the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens that challenge us to the core about our views of earth history.  The events leading up to the eruption, the drama of the eruption itself, and its aftermath remind us that “millions of years” worth of geologic change can take place rapidly.  Belief in a recent creation and world-destroying Flood are reasonable.

Mr. Hoesch earned a B.A. in Geology from the University of Colorado and a M.S. in Geology from the Institute for Creation Research. In between these degrees he worked for seven years in petroleum exploration, both as engineer and geologist. Since earning his master’s degree, he served as a missionary for one year in China and then 17 years at the Institute for Creation Research in southern California – as information officer, speaker, tour-leader, and research assistant. Outdoor education, mostly leading tour groups to Grand Canyon has been Bill’s focus for the past several years. In 2021 he was called to become the Director of the Mount St. Helens Creation Center where he has served since October of that year.
