Description: Life consists of material (matter & energy) as well as non-material parts (information). We look at the nature of information, machines and programs in writing systems, computer systems, and living systems. Each system requires an intelligent mind and a design, and therefore an intelligent designer. The information and the programs in the human cell are orders of magnitude greater than that of a computer system. Living organisms require information, programs, storage, complexity, and design. We were created by an Intelligent Being (God) and did not get here by random chance natural processes.

Do We Have a Climate Crisis?
Description: The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) claims that GW is occurring at a rapid rate, that GW is largely due to the increased burning of fossil fuel, and that we face dire consequences if we don’t cut back on CO2 being released into the atmosphere. The independent Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC) has concluded that Nature, not Human Activity, rules the Climate. We have identified at least sixteen reasons how and why the GW claims made by the alarmists are not substantiated by the evidence, and that. CO2 cannot possibly drive GW. GW alarmism is not supported by the facts and is not warranted.

Impact of Evolutionism on Society
Description: Evolutionism, in supplanting theism, is having a significant impact on our postmodern culture in ethics. We present the results of this and show how the church can combat this today.
The ideas associated with Evolution have consequences and are having an impact on the ethics of our society. The Evolution vs. Creation controversy is not a battle between Science and Religion, but a War of Worldviews. Evolution has a pervasive influence on every aspect of man’s thinking, including his ethics. Darwin removed the theological basis of the moral code of Christianity. We have seen the deadly results of this in the 20th century, and we continue to see the impact in our society on the sanctity of life, racism, morality, rights, family, education, and business ethics today.

Interpreting the Geology of Our National Parks
Description: This seminar looks at three of our most famous national parks from a young-earth perspective – Yellowstone, Yosemite and Petrified Forest – and helps you see a new way of understanding their amazing features. This seminar focuses on how you can apply the Scriptures to what you see as you venture through these national parks.
Patrick Nurre, speaker and author, was in the second grade when he made his first big find – a large dinosaur bone in the alley behind his house! That was the beginning of a love for geology. Raised in beautiful Montana, he spent many days rockhounding near the Big Horn River. This early interest led him to a lifelong study of the world of geology. Patrick was trained in secular geology, but after becoming a Christian, he began to seriously reevaluate his previous evolutionary beliefs, and became, instead, a young-earth creationist.
Today, Patrick conducts geology classes (PreK-12) and seminars in the Seattle area, and speaks at numerous home school and church conventions on geology and our young earth. He also leads a variety of geology field trips every year, including Yellowstone Park, where he helps families discover the Biblical geology of the Park. Patrick is the vision behind Northwest Treasures, a 501(c)3 corporation, devoted to creating excellent geology kits, curricula and education for all ages. To help in this endeavor, Patrick has written 17 books on geology, for all ages. He is a long-standing participant in the IAC (International Association of Creation) Professional Development Program. In addition, he draws on over 40 years of pastoring experience. Patrick and his wife, Vicki, have three wonderful children and three grandchildren, and live in Bothell, Washington.

Wonders of God’s Creation
Description: Modern technologies have provided mankind with a look at the the creation never before seen. Advancements in molecular biology and microscopy have revealed a nano-scale complexity that Darwin and his contemporaries could never have imaged. Likewise developments in astronomy have given us a sense of the immense scale of the cosmos.
This presentation aptly uses discoveries from both the microscopic and macroscopic realms to guide believers to a better appreciation of the Glory of God. Drawing from electron micrographs and space telescope images, we will take a tour of His works that reveal the magnificence that is our Father in heaven.
Speaker: Chris Ashcraft is a Christian educator employed as high school science teacher at Cedar Park Christian Schools, and adjunct professor at Northwest University. Chris has also worked in plant biotechnology. He was a research technician at the Cotton Fiber Production Laboratory at Texas Tech University, then at the Plant Transformation Facility at Oklahoma State University, and lastly was the Plant Transformation Specialist for EDEN Bioscience in Bothell, Washington.
He obtained a Bachelor of Science in biology from Wayland Baptist University in 1989, a Master of Science in biology from Texas Tech University in 1996, a Master of Education from the University of Washington in 2008, and a Master in Teaching Math and Science from Seattle Pacific University in 2012.
Chris moved from research science into the teaching profession to serve God in Christian education. His decision was motivated by the impact that secular science is having on people of faith. Today, close to 50% of Christian students lose their belief in God while attending secular schools. This tendency could be lessened if the Church was better equipped to defend the authority of Biblical teachings (1 Peter 3:15). To be prepared for these challenges, it is important that churches provide regular educational programs on creation and other Bible Apologetics.

If God created everything else that exists, did God create evil? Dr. Fernandes discusses how Christian theologians have responded to these objections throughout church history. He also shows that evil is actually evidence for God, not against God.
Speaker: Dr. Phil Fernandes is the senior pastor of Trinity Bible Fellowship and the president of the Institute of Biblical Defense. Fernandes founded the Institute of Biblical Defense in 1990 to help train Christians in their defense of the faith. He also teaches Bible, philosophy, and world religions at Crosspoint Academy and the Gateway School of Ministry in Bremerton, WA. He has completed doctoral work in both philosophy of religion (Greenwich University) and theological studies (Columbia Evangelical Seminary). The Hidden World of Mount St. Helens
Description: May 18, 2020 marked the 40th anniversary of the eruption of Mount St. Helens. This catastrophic event, in a matter of minutes, produced a 230-square-mile area of destruction, which became known as the ‘blast zone.’ Within its confines, forests, meadows, wetlands, streams, and lakes were severely cataclysmed. Initial predictions from scientists called for a very prolonged and difficult recovery period . However, four decades have now passed and the return of plants and animals to the Mount St. Helens landscape has far exceeded expectations. How has this happened? What behind-the-scenes organisms and processes have produced the healing we observe at the mountain?
Dr. Keith Swenson will give a new power point presentation detailing several little known vignettes of recovery in the blast zone. Through this program, he will explore the apparent design in the Mount St. Helens ecosystem and also relate the observed recovery to global restoration following Noah’s Flood.
Speaker: Dr. Keith Swenson is a retired medical doctor who now teaches courses in biology and geology at Multnomah University in Portland, Oregon. He also served for twenty years as President of Portland’s Design Science Association and was on the board of the Seven Wonders Museum near Mount St. Helens. Keith especially enjoys leading field trips and has taken thousands to Mount St. Helens, the Columbia Gorge, Northwest forests and the Grand Canyon. He has co-led, with Dr. Steve Austin, periodic trips into the “Little Grand Canyon” at Mount St. Helens. Keith has a B.S. in Zoology from the University of Idaho and an M.D. from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He and his wife, Connie, have four grown children.
A good summary of the recovery of the Mount St. Helens area after the devastation of the eruption in May 1980 is described in this article by Swenson and Catchpoole on the creation.com website. The unexpected rapid bounce back provides us insight into how the world recovered from Noah’s Flood.

How Old is The Earth?
Description: How old is the earth? Is it 4.8 billion years as evolutionary geology teaches or just thousands of years ago as the Bible teaches? The issues around this debate is likely the biggest issue that separates a Christian Worldview from a secular Worldview and unfortunately also between Christians. It is a fundamental issue of AUTHORITY: Man or God? We will discuss the fundamental flaws in the evolutionary processes of radiometric age dating, the assumptions being made, numerous examples of inconsistent results and many evidences of catastrophic geological events that demonstrate “It doesn’t Take Millions of Years”. We will learn about “Critical Thinking” applied to this subject.
Speaker: Ron Payne has a B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Washington and studied microbiology at Oregon State University. He spent 35 years in the Aerospace Industry as a Senior Principle Materials and Process Engineer specializing in chemical processes, waste treatment, metallurgy, circuit board fabrication, metal finishing, adhesives, coatings, paints, cleaning, electronic assembly, procurement engineering and technical documentation. He was a Board member for the Creation Association of Puget Sound (CAPS) and also for the Mount St. Helens Creation Center for more than 15 years. He managed and provided creation resources for CAPS and spoke on various creation topics to homeschool and church groups. He specializes in creation tours to Mount St. Helens and Dry Falls sponsored by the Apologetics Forum.

Problems with Distant Starlight
Description: Many Christian laymen and apologists alike stumble over what has been dubbed “the distant starlight problem,” citing it as a key obstacle to their acceptance of a young (i.e. ~6,000 year) creation.
In this presentation, I’ll take this difficult topic by the horns and demonstrate to non-technical audiences how the distant starlight problem is a double-edged sword that cuts both ways–against young- and old-earth creationists alike; it is not the proverbial nail in the young-earth coffin that many think it is.
Speaker: Dan Kreft, the Seven-Foot Apologist, is a teacher, speaker, and author of the three-volume book, “Jesus” Is Not the Answer to Every Sunday School Question. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from Northwestern University, played professional basketball for three years, and is a recovering software engineer of twenty-two years. In addition to his own ministry, Dan also serves on the board of directors for the Apologetics Forum of Snohomish County, and is an adjunct teacher for Creation Training Initiative. Close Encounters: The Evolution Connection
Description: Are unidentified flying objects real? Are they from advanced civilizations in other parts of our galaxy?
Most UFO sightings may be attributed to natural phenomena. But some defy explanation.

Speaker: Bruce Barton has degrees in meteorology and theology, with studies in engineering and graduate work in atmospheric sciences. Mr. Barton was an instrumentation engineer in R&D for Weyerhaeuser Company until retirement. He has a broad background as a teacher and speaker to groups of all ages in a wide range of subjects including science and technology, aviation, and Bible topics, particularly apologetics. Bruce has been speaking on the Creation/Evolution controversy for over ten years, especially to homeschool groups. He continues to give seminars and lead field trips for them. Basic Creation Training Course.
This one-day course is designed to prepare Christians to speak about and defend the biblical account of creation with confidence and be better equipped to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Target Audience: Ninth grade and above (A great course for getting your high school student trained to defend their faith).
Certification: This course is certified for one Continuing Education Unit (CEU) for Christian school teachers.
Course Goal: To prepare Christians to be able to speak about and defend the biblical account of creation with confidence and be better equipped to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Instructional Method/Format: Lecture, class participation, and exercises.

Dissecting “The Math of the Great Flood”
This program is designed for the youth and others with an interest in being able to defend their faith. The program is structured as follows:

Description: Years ago, I ran into a YouTube video that uses mathematics to prove that Noah’s flood could not have happened, and it made me ask “What if everything I’ve believed about the flood is wrong?” We’ll take a look at this video and see why there’s nothing to be afraid of. This is a fun introduction to rubber-meets-the-road apologetics that demonstrates how to think critically, how to spot logical fallacies, and the dangers of not looking up scriptures that others quote.
Speaker: Dan Kreft, the Seven-Foot Apologist, is a teacher, speaker, and author of the three-volume book, “Jesus” Is Not the Answer to Every Sunday School Question. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from Northwestern University, played professional basketball for three years, and is a recovering software engineer of twenty-two years. In addition to his own ministry, Dan also serves on the board of directors for the Apologetics Forum of Snohomish County, and is an adjunct teacher for Creation Training Initiative. Know The True Worldview
Description: A worldview is a philosophy, ideology or religion that provides an overarching approach to understanding God, the world, and man’s relationship to both. A complete worldview contains a perspective regarding each of the ten disciplines: theology, philosophy, ethics, biology, psychology, sociology, law, politics, economics, and interpretation of history. A worldview is a way of viewing or interpreting all of reality. We compare the Biblical Worldview with the competing worldviews of Islam, Secular Humanism, Marxism, New Age, and Postmodernism. We show that only Christianity satisfies the criteria for determining truth. It is coherent, rational, matches reality and explains the real world.
Speaker: Dr. Heinz Lycklama earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics (1965) and a Ph. D. degree in experimental Nuclear Physics (1969) from McMaster University in Canada. Since then he has worked in the telecommunications and computer software industries at Bell Telephone Laboratories in NJ and at Interactive Systems Corporation in CA – as an individual contributor and in management positions. In 1992 Dr. Lycklama founded Open Systems Technology Associates (OSTA) to offer his technology management consulting services to various start-ups in the high technology industry. In 2013 Heinz founded the Apologetics Forum to help equip believers in the defense of The Faith.
Being challenged in his Christian faith by what he was taught in university in the 1960’s, Dr. Lycklama has always maintained an active interest in the Creation vs. Evolution controversy. He has developed a series of lectures on Creation vs. Evolution, Christian Apologetics, and Biblical Worldview over the years and presented the material in Sunday school classes, to college students, during church services, at Bible Schools, and other venues in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. In 1988, the International Chess Federation awarded him the title of F.I.D.E. Master (FM). Jonathan has been known to play multiple chess matches while he is blindfolded. Jonathan more regularly plays multiple sighted challengers, up to 20 – 30 at a time.
Dr. Sarfati has performed this feat, against up to 12 challengers at once, at several major international conferences. A former chess champion of New Zealand, Jonathan is a scientist whose Ph.D. is in physical chemistry and quantum physics. He works for Creation Ministries International as a lecturer, scientist, and writer, showing how Christians can believe the Bible from cover to cover—especially when it comes to Genesis and creation vs evolution!
