He successfully completed this program in 2003 with a dissertation on “Cnidarian Fluorescent Proteins.” While in Miami, he studied the genetics of pigmentation in corals and other invertebrates, designed and built an aquaculture facility for Caribbean corals, performed well over 500 SCUBA dives, many of them at night, and licensed a spin-off product of his research (a patented fluorescent protein) to a biotech company.
He is currently a senior scientist and speaker for CMI-USA in Atlanta, Georgia, where he lives with his wife, Leanne, and children and is currently researching human genetics and other issues related to biblical creation.

Description: Today, bible-believers are a great minority among practicing scientists and are subject to much persecution. Yet, modern science was developed on principles directly derived from Christian theology. Despite that history, science today operates without even token admission of its roots. How does this affect current scientific practices? Can we trust the conclusions of all those men and women in white lab coats? Can science operate in a moral and ontological vacuum? We will examine three examples of how the turn from belief in God has affected modern thought: geomorphology (the shape of the earth’s surface), fossilization (the process of preserving the remains of living organisms), and genetics (specifically as it relates to the genetic history of mankind). In each of these subject areas, we will examine the evolutionary scenarios put forth to date and weight them against solid biblical exposition. In the end, we will see that the evolutionary conclusions for each of these subjects is derived more from starting assumptions than it is from reality. Science belongs under the umbrella of Christianity.

Description:In this Mini Conference on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until 12 noon, Dr Carter brings two seminars on Genetics. Description: Most people assume that the concept of evolution began with Charles Darwin. But Darwin merely popularized and provided a supposedly scientific explanation for evolution, an idea that has been around for a long time. A thread of evolutionary thought may be traced back to the earliest recorded civilization. In this presentation we trace evolutionism back to its early beginnings and show how it influenced Greek philosophy, which in turn affected Western culture from the Renaissance down to the present, and became deeply rooted in our culture today.
Speaker: Bruce Barton has degrees in meteorology and theology, with studies in engineering and graduate work in atmospheric sciences. Mr. Barton was an instrumentation engineer in R&D for Weyerhaeuser Company until retirement. He has a broad background as a teacher and speaker to groups of all ages in a wide range of subjects including science and technology, aviation, and Bible topics, particularly apologetics. Bruce has been speaking on the Creation/Evolution controversy for over ten years, especially to homeschool groups. He continues to give seminars and lead field trips for them. Interpreting the Geology of Grand Teton National Park
Description: The Tetons in Northwestern Wyoming are arguably the most spectacular peaks in the Rocky Mountains. Millions of tourists to Grand Teton National Park each year are awed by its rugged mountain grandeur.
Park signs and interpretive rangers also explain the geological history of the Teton Range and its companion valley, Jackson Hole. Visitors are told that the mountains have been incrementally rising and the valley dropping over several million years. The range is said to be still forming and will continue to do so well into the future.
Bible believers should ask whether this is the best interpretation of Teton geology. Or could the Teton landscape have formed, given a Creation-Flood model of earth history? Has Science Now Buried God?
Description: This talk is based on Dr. John Lennox‘s book, God’s Undertaker: Has Science Buried God?” According to many modern commentators, science has now explained all that we observe in the universe and God is no longer needed. We are told that atheism is the only intellectually tenable position, and any attempt to invoke God as the explanation impedes progress in science. Lennox asks the critical question whether science points to atheism? He shows that theism fits more comfortably with science than atheism. Science is limited in the scope of its explanations. We conclude that this is not a debate between science and religion, but a debate between two very different worldviews.

Description: In this Mini Conference on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until 12 noon, Mike Riddle brings two seminars on the theme of Biblical Apologetics to teach how to be a 1 Peter 3:15 Christian (have a ready answer). The first set of challenges concerning the Bible are answered in the first seminar at 9:00 AM:
- How could Adam name all the animals in one day?
- How could Noah fit all the creatures on the Ark?
- How could the first three days be literal days if the sun was not created until day four?
- Adam didn’t physically die when he ate the fruit, therefore Genesis is just referring to spiritual death.
- Carbon-14 proves fossils are older than 6,000 years.

Has Science Now Buried God?
Description: This talk is based on Dr. John Lennox‘s book, God’s Undertaker: Has Science Buried God?” According to many modern commentators, science has now explained all that we observe in the universe and God is no longer needed. We are told that atheism is the only intellectually tenable position, and any attempt to invoke God as the explanation impedes progress in science. Lennox asks the critical question whether science points to atheism? He shows that theism fits more comfortably with science than atheism. Science is limited in the scope of its explanations. We conclude that this is not a debate between science and religion, but a debate between two very different worldviews.
Speaker: Dr. Heinz Lycklama earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics (1965) and a Ph. D. degree in experimental Nuclear Physics (1969) from McMaster University in Canada. Since then he has worked in the telecommunications and computer software industries at Bell Telephone Laboratories in NJ and at Interactive Systems Corporation in CA – as an individual contributor and in management positions. In 1992 Dr. Lycklama founded Open Systems Technology Associates (OSTA) to offer his technology management consulting services to various start-ups in the high technology industry. In 2013 Heinz founded the Apologetics Forum to help equip believers in the defense of The Faith.
Being challenged in his Christian faith by what he was taught in university in the 1960’s, Dr. Lycklama has always maintained an active interest in the Creation vs. Evolution controversy. Description: In “The Death of Truth” Dr. Fernandes explains how many of the so-called thinkers of Western Civilization abandoned the belief in the existence of the Christian God. This has led to the abandonment of truth and morality as well. Dr. Fernandes shows how the rejection of God in the West has led to: Darwinian evolution, the rejection of absolute truth, moral relativism, post-modernism, the increase in immorality, political correctness, and the diminishing in the value of human life.
Speaker: Dr. Phil Fernandes is the senior pastor of Trinity Bible Fellowship and the president of the Institute of Biblical Defense. Fernandes founded the Institute of Biblical Defense in 1990 to help train Christians in their defense of the faith. He also teaches Bible, philosophy, and world religions at Crosspoint Academy and the Gateway School of Ministry in Bremerton, WA. He has completed doctoral work in both philosophy of religion (Greenwich University) and theological studies (Columbia Evangelical Seminary). Description: This talk begins by defining the terms of science and Evolution. We use critical thinking skills strictly from the scientific point of view in determining the truth about Evolution. Evolution: What Darwin Didn’t Know
Description: What have we learned about evolution since 1859 when Darwin published his theory on natural selection? At the time, little was known about the cell, and nothing was known of genetics. Are Darwin’s “numerous successive slight modifications” able to produce the irreducible complexities found in living systems?
This presentation reviews the evidence for and against evolution from both living populations and fossils. We will also examine the processes of speciation, mutation, and selection. When the observations are interpreted correctly, we see clear support for the Biblical teachings that various kinds of plants and animals were created in the beginning.
Speaker: Chris Ashcraft is a Christian educator employed as high school science teacher at Cedar Park Christian Schools, and adjunct professor at Northwest University. Chris has also worked in plant biotechnology. He was a research technician at the Cotton Fiber Production Laboratory at Texas Tech University, then at the Plant Transformation Facility at Oklahoma State University, and lastly was the Plant Transformation Specialist for EDEN Bioscience in Bothell, Washington.
He obtained a Bachelor of Science in biology from Wayland Baptist University in 1989, a Master of Science in biology from Texas Tech University in 1996, a Master of Education from the University of Washington in 2008, and a Master in Teaching Math and Science from Seattle Pacific University in 2012.
Chris moved from research science into the teaching profession to serve God in Christian education. His decision was motivated by the impact that secular science is having on people of faith. Today, close to 50% of Christian students lose their belief in God while attending secular schools. This tendency could be lessened if the Church was better equipped to defend the authority of Biblical teachings (1 Peter 3:15). To be prepared for these challenges, it is important that Churches provide regular educational programs on creation and other Bible Apologetics.

Creation or Evolution – Looking at the Evidence
Description: This is a basic talk on the Fossils and designed primarily for a non-Christian audience. ‘Creation or Evolution – Looking at the evidence’ looks at the fossil evidence and shows that many creatures fossilized in the rocks are the same as today. The talk simply looks at the geological evidence and compares the fossils with existing creatures today. It addresses the fact that many creatures in the fossil record, we do have today, and are not any different. Then it deals with creatures in the fossil record that we do not have today – e.g. dinosaurs – now extinct. The talk concludes that the record is simply one of creatures which are similar to today or else extinct creatures we no longer have today – No transitions. It lastly deals with radioactive dating, and shows that there are major assumptions in such methods.
Speaker: Professor Andy McIntosh DSc, FIMA, CMath, FEI, CEng, FInstP, MIGEM, FRAeS is retired from full time work at the University of Leeds, and is now a visiting research professor in Thermodynamics and Combustion Theory. He has lectured and researched in these fields for over 30 years and has a DSc from the University of Wales and a PhD from Cranfield University. A Fellow of the Institute of Physics, the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, and the Royal Aeronautical Society, he now lectures in many countries on the subject of origins, showing that the science is entirely consistent with the Bible, and contrary to the dogmatic assertions of secular humanists, that the science does does not fit well with evolutionary thinking. His lectures on design cover many areas including the marvels of the design of the human body, the bombardier beetle (which work was awarded the 2010 Times Higher Educational award for the Outstanding Contribution to Innovation and Technology), the exquisite design of birds, bats and the flying insects, and information and thermodynamics. Andy is also an associate speaker with Answers in Genesis.

The Intricacies of Flight
Description: Flight in Birds. We look at the aerodynamics of birds, and show the awe and wonder from the fascinating detail of flight in the natural world. The feathers of birds have to be positioned in exactly the right location on the wing from front to back and from close to the body to tip, but also edge on forming an aerofoil shape. The remarkable agility of both fast birds of prey and humming bird aerobatic marvels show the necessity for a number of parallel mechanisms all to be in place at the same time to enable flight to work in birds. giving the lie to the supposed evolution of such creatures from more primitive ancestors. This has technical parts but is understood by all ages because it is so visual. It lends itself to being a good platform for evangelism. The Wonder of Design in Nature
Description: In this Mini Conference on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until 12 noon, Dr Andy McIntosh brings two seminars on The Wonder of Design in Nature. He presents powerful evidence for design that you won’t want to miss! There will be an extended time for Q&A after the second seminar.
First seminar on The Wonder of Insect Flight at 9:00 AM. The wonder of insect flight is shown in the great variety of wings and the way that they are used in flight. Butterflies may seem driven by wind or gentle breeze but in fact are excellent fliers, with some covering immense distances in migration. Starting life as caterpillars, metamorphosis defies an evolutionary explanation for their supposed development from some worm like creature. Dragonflies are the kings of insect flight with their great speed and the ability to control each wing independently, Damselflies have brilliant hovering skills and both these flying insects start off in the water breathing entirely differently to their later life in the air. We examine a number of insects and look at beetles with their brilliant folding wings – examples of naturally occurring origami! We end with the amazing dung beetle which even has the ability to navigate by the stars – such is the wonder of what God has made in the insect kingdom!

Second Seminar on The Wonder of Hearing at 10:30 AM. The talk addresses the intricacy in the design of the mammalian ear, and in particular the human ear. There is minute and detailed engineering involved in the movement in air of acoustic waves which then transmit vibrations through to the mechanical movement of three tiny bones in the ear, then to movement in liquid, then movement of a special membrane splitting the sound into its component parts by frequency, then movement of very tiny hairs, and finally through electro-chemical bonds generating electrical signals to go to the brain. This has caused even Dawkins to write of the three inner bones in “the mammalian ear, where they constitute an exquisitely delicate bridge, to transport sound from the eardrum to the inner ear.” [Dawkins, R. The greatest show on earth – the evidence for evolution, Black Swan, 2009, p.293]. Rather than give glory to God who has clearly stated (Prov 20:12) “The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them,” evolutionists insist that these three tiny bones gradually changed their location as they moved from the jaw bones of reptiles. The logic of this is beyond comprehension when one understands the near perfect acoustic transmission involved in this system. The Extraordinary Bombardier Beetle
This program is designed for the youth and others with an interest in being able to defend their faith. The program is structured as follows:

Description: The innocuous looking bombardier beetle is one of the most remarkable creatures around. This tiny insect is able to fight off any spider, frog, ant or bird that comes too close by blasting the attacker with a powerful jet of hot, toxic fluid. Furthermore, the beetle can aim its weapon in any direction (even over its head) with pinpoint accuracy, and can reach distances of up to 20 cm with its spray. The bombardier beetle, which is rare in Europe but common in Africa, Asia and warmer parts of the US, forms a noxious spray by reacting small amounts of hydroquinone with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of the catalysts catalase and peroxidase in a pair of combustion chambers in its abdomen.
The bombardier beetle sending out a repeated blast of hot caustic fluid with steam and water at 500Hz in any direction it wishes and the inspiration for new devices, is an example of irreducible complexity which strongly suggest creation as the logical explanation.

Description: No death before the Fall is not only taught in the OT but very much in the NT. Evolution teaches that death is a necessary part of the natural order. The Bible teaches it came because of sin. Consequently if death did not come as a result of sin then why did Christ die? Description: This talk looks at the four cardinal truths concerning origins –1) there was no death before the Fall, 2) Creation was by God’s spoken Word, 3) Adam was made from dust and 4) that the Flood was global. This presentation is an important Bible based talk against Theistic Evolution. It lastly deals with days of Creation and shows that Bible history is to be taken literally. The infallibility of Scripture, the timeline and true history is at stake, The Gospel is predicated upon no death before the Fall. Preparing Youth for Missions
Matt. 28:19-20, Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
Description: The next generation is preparing for missions, going on short term trips and as a career. We must recognize that more than 60% of our youth leave The Faith when they leave home because they did not get answers to their hard questions and were not able to counter their indoctrination in evolution and secularism. To be effective in missions, youth need to understand the gospel, have a biblical worldview, and develop critical thinking skills to overcome roadblocks to The Faith. They need to have trust in The Word, be ready to defend The Word, and then ready to share The Word.
Speaker: Dr. Heinz Lycklama earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics (1965) and a Ph. D. degree in experimental Nuclear Physics (1969) from McMaster University in Canada. Since then he has worked in the telecommunications and computer software industries at Bell Telephone Laboratories in NJ and at Interactive Systems Corporation in CA – as an individual contributor and in management positions. In 1992 Dr. Lycklama founded Open Systems Technology Associates (OSTA) to offer his technology management consulting services to various start-ups in the high technology industry. In 2013 Heinz founded the Apologetics Forum to help equip believers in the defense of The Faith.
Being challenged in his Christian faith by what he was taught in university in the 1960’s, Dr. Lycklama has always maintained an active interest in the Creation vs. Evolution controversy. Living Fossils

Here is a photo of the table of fossils and fossil replicas that J.D. will bring with him for sale. There will be fossilized dinosaur bones, mosasaur teeth, various marine fossils, fossil ammonites, fossil fish, and fossil trilobites. The replicas are trilobites, dinosaur brain endocasts, dinosaur eggs, dinosaur claws and dinosaur teeth.
Description: Charles Darwin coined the term “Living Fossils” to describe living plants and animals that are unchanged in appearance from fossils that have been assigned as their fossil ancestors. A modern definition for a living fossil is: “A living plant or animal that looks identical or very similar to a fossil version of it.”
Evolutionists describe and display in their museums what they identify as living fossils, but they routinely limit the number that match the above definition to a very tiny percentage of the total fossil record. Is this representation accurate? Does it match reality?
J.D. Mitchell will show that living fossils make up a much larger percentage of fossils than evolutionists would have us believe. He will demonstrate that a proper interpretation of the fossils in the rock record points to the global cataclysm described in the Bible and not to hundreds of millions of years of macroevolutionary changes.
The secular interpretation for fossils is prevalent in the culture today, and unfortunately, in a majority of Christian churches as well. This atheistic interpretation is counter to what the Bible says about ancient history and logically undermines the Christian faith. Mr. Mitchell will show that the fossils can be easily and logically interpreted in a manner harmonious with the Bible. He believes it is crucial that Biblical Christians understand this correct interpretation, for without that knowledge it is impossible to logically defend the faith.

Description: Pat Roy, the creator of the creation audio adventure series Jonathan Park, will give an exciting presentation on the May 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens that left an area named the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes. The eruption of Mount St. Helens forever changed scientists’ thinking about catastrophism. Hear about layers that formed in a matter of hours, canyon systems that were carved in months, a new understanding of supposedly ancient petrified forests, and how quickly God has designed nature to recover.
Speaker: Pat Roy is the co-founder of Creation Quest along with his wife Sandy and their two daughters. Pat spent 12 years as the radio producer of the Institute for Creation Research (ICR) and then served as Director of Broadcast media. During that time, he and his wife, Sandy, created Jonathan Park, a kid’s radio drama which put all that Pat had learned and continued to learn about 6 day literal creation into a format kids could understand and enjoy. From there, Pat and Sandy created Creation Quest, a new creation-based organization, dedicated to getting young people excited about the scientific evidence that is in harmony with God’s Word!

Journey to Novarupta
Description: Pat Roy, the 
creator of the creation audio adventure series Jonathan Park, will give an exciting presentation on Novarupta, the most powerful volcano of the 20th century. When formed in Alaska in 1912, Novarupta was the largest volcanic eruption of the 20th century. It released 30 times the volume of magma of the 1980 eruption of Mount St Helens and left an area named the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes.
Almost a hundred years later, creation researcher Dr. David Shormann traveled to that remote part of the Alaskan wilderness with family and friends. Their goal was to document the overwhelming evidence for creation, the worldwide flood, and an ice age. In attaining that goal, they had to survive bear encounters, pumice storms, hurricane-strength winds and freezing rivers.
