What About Global Warming?

Description: The issue of Global Warming (GW), now referred to as Climate Change (CC), has received a lot of attention in the press.  The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has issued its Fifth Assessment Report.  The IPCC claims that GW is occurring at a rapid rate, that GW is largely due to the increased burning of fossil fuel, and that we face dire consequences if we don’t cut back on greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. The Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC) has concluded that Nature, not Human Activity, rules the Climate. We explore the science behind these different conclusions.

GW alarmists tell us, in effect, that “the end is near” unless drastic state-imposed restrictions are imposed now on our consumption of CO2 emitting fossil fuels – despite God’s promise to Noah – Gen. 8:22.  Other climate scientists claim that any GW is largely due to natural causes such as sun irradiance,  the El Nino phenomenon in the Pacific Ocean, the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, etc. This raises some legitimate questions – 1) What are the facts? 2) What is the appropriate biblical perspective? 3) Should we be concerned? and 4) Is there another agenda?

Heinz has done an independent analysis of the GW issue (see www.heinzlycklama.com/gw) and sent the results of his findings and recommendations to many of the leading climate scientists around the world.

Speaker: Dr. Heinz Lycklama earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics (1965) and a Ph. D. degree in experimental Nuclear Physics (1969) from McMaster University in Canada. Since then he has worked in the telecommunications and computer software industries at Bell Telephone Laboratories in NJ and at Interactive Systems Corporation in CA – as an individual contributor and in management positions. In 1992 Dr. Lycklama founded Open Systems Technology Associates (OSTA) to offer his technology management consulting services to various start-ups in the high technology industry. In 2013 Heinz founded the Apologetics Forum to help equip believers in the defense of The Faith.

Challenged in his Christian faith by what he was taught in university in the 1960’s, Dr. Lycklama has always maintained an active interest in the Creation vs. Evolution controversy. As his children reached school age and began to ask questions about what they were taught in school, he became more involved in researching the topic of Creation v. Evolution. He has developed a series of lectures and courses on Creation v. Evolution,  Christian Apologetics, and Biblical Worldview over the years and presented the material in Sunday school classes, to college students, during church services, at Bible Schools, and other venues in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. With his knowledge of the Bible and science, Dr. Lycklama has continued to develop and present new material in these subject areas. Heinz and his wife Gerda live in Arlington, WA. They were both born in the Netherlands, immigrated to Canada after WWII with their families, married in 1964, and then immigrated to the US in 1969. They have 5 children and 16 grandchildren. Heinz continues to give talks on Creation v. Evolution, Christian Apologetics, and the Biblical Worldview in various venues. Gerda teaches women’s Bible studies in her home, and is an avid quilter – brightening the lives of many an orphan around the world. Heinz and Gerda have traveled internationally on business as well as on missions and teaching trips.
