Becoming Bold: Know It! Live It! Share It! – Carl Kerby @ Calvary Chapel Eastside
Jun 30 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am

Becoming Bold

Description: The church is losing its next generation at an alarming rate. What can we do about it? Anywhere from 50 to 88 percent of the young people raised in Bible-believing Christian homes walk away from the church after age 18. In this talk, Carl examines the causes of this huge exodus, but then shows that by starting with the Bible, solutions can be offered to this massive problem in the church. Teaching just Bible stories to our children isn’t working; young people in our churches need to know how to stand uncompromisingly on the authority and accuracy of the Bible so that they can answer the skeptical questions of the age. This is the keynote talk for rforh’s Becoming Bold Conferences where our challenge is to Know it! Live it! and Share it!  This talk will address all three of these issues.

Speaker: Carl Kerby is an inspiring, motivating and highly respected Christian speaker. With more than 20 years of ministry experience, Carl shares his extensive knowledge and understanding of God’s creation in his presentations, outreach events, books and other resources as the President and founding board member of Reasons for Hope, Inc.

Carl Kerby is a former air-traffic controller and a creation apologist speaker who teaches how to defend the Bible against scientific naturalism. He was one of the founding board members for Answers in Genesis, and has been described by AiG as one of their most dynamic lecturers on the Book of Genesis.  After serving with Answers in Genesis for over 15 years, Carl became the Founder and President of Reasons for Hope. He is a much sought-after speaker both in the United States and abroad, and has spoken in Bermuda, Canada, England, Greece, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines, Wales and others.

He grew up in a liberal church that taught evolution could be mixed with God’s Word. In 1987 Carl Kerby became a Christian after attending a crusade in Salt Lake City, Utah. While an air-traffic controller and riding in the cockpit on a flight, the Creation vs. Evolution issue came up during a conversation with the pilots. The co-pilot argued that the Bible and Evolution were a totally different worldviews that could not be in harmonized. He then introduced Carl to Ken Ham’s book The Lie: Evolution, which helped him trust in the Bible as authoritative on the issue of creation.

Carl and his wife Masami have been married for more than 30 years. They have two children, Alisa (Bobby) and Carl Jr. (Tish) and four grandchildren, Trey, Naomi, Mari and James. Carl is the author of Remote Control: The Power of Hollywood on Today’s Culture, Absotively, Posilutely, The Best Evidence for Creation and Reasons for Hope In The Mosaic of Your Life. Carl and Masami live in Hebron, KY.

Genesis and Biblical Discernment – Mike Riddle @ Baker Creek Bible Church
Sep 29 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am

Genesis and Biblical Discernment

The message concludes by focusing on Christian youth and why so many are leaving the church.

The sermon will be followed by a talk on Aliens, UFO’s and the Bible during the SS hour. This talk looks at the scientific and biblical evidence for extraterrestrial life.
• Why the search for extraterrestrial life?
• Influence from the media

Creation or Evolution: Who Cares? – Paul F. Taylor @ Atonement Free Lutheran Church
Nov 17 @ 8:30 am – 12:00 pm

Sunday, November 17

Paul Taylor, the Director of Mount St. Helens Creation Center, will be with us at the worship services and during the Sunday School hour.

Worship Services, 8:30 am and 11:00 am: Paul Taylor, speaks on Creation or Evolution: Who Cares? Why does it matter what Christians believe on the subject? The talk aims to show the correct biblical way to think through the issues, and the implications for other Biblical doctrines.

Sunday School Hour, 9:45 amPaul Taylor will give a talk on Only Believe. The Christian “world” seems to be full of apologists today, trying to defend the Christian faith, and prove the existence of God. This honorable intent is marred by the fact that most modern apologists attempt their ministry in a manner which is unbiblical. In this talk, taken from the book of the same name, Paul gives an introduction to biblical apologetics, commonly known as presuppositional apologetics. He shows its biblical basic, and outlines its methodologies.

SpeakerPaul Taylor was born and grew up near Manchester in the North of England. He studied piano at Chetham’s School of Music, but read Chemistry at the University of Nottingham. Paul taught Chemistry, Physics and Science in government (“public”) schools in England and Wales for 18 years, eventually becoming a Head of Science, with a Masters in Science Education and Management from the University of Cardiff.

Paul was saved at the age of 15. He came across creationist literature in his late teens, and quickly became involved in speaking and writing on the subject of creation and evolution, Genesis and apologetics. Since 2005, he has been a full-time creation speaker, having worked for Answers in Genesis (UK/Europe) and Creation Today. He and his wife are the Directors of the Mount St Helens Creation Center. Paul is married to Geri, and they have five children between them.

The Alternative: Creation’s Competitive Edge – Dr. Rob Carter @ Calvary Chapel Eastside
Mar 1 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am

The Alternative: Creation’s Competitive Edge

Description: 1 Peter 3:15 commands us to have answers and always be ready to defend the Christian faith. This presentation will supply people with vital information about fossils and the Flood. The Alternative: Creation’s Competitive Edge is a great first time presentation designed to train people in how to share the Christian faith using the creation account found in the book of Genesis.

SpeakerDr Carter was converted to Christ at an early age, but did not know what to do with the theory of evolution. He always knew what he wanted to believe, but had no way to express what he was thinking and no evidence to support his views. In his freshman year of college, he was exposed to the information for creation for the first time and soon after adopted it as his modus operandi. He says he felt a tremendous joy when he realized his science and his religion were no longer at odds. This joy (and, he says, Creation magazine and the Journal of Creation) enabled him to get through the in-depth evolutionary training of his undergraduate and graduate programs with his faith intact.

He obtained a BS in Applied Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1992. He then spent four years teaching high school biology, chemistry, physics and electronics before going to the University of Miami to obtain his PhD in Marine Biology. He successfully completed this program in 2003 with a dissertation on “Cnidarian Fluorescent Proteins.” While in Miami, he studied the genetics of pigmentation in corals and other invertebrates, designed and built an aquaculture facility for Caribbean corals, performed well over 500 SCUBA dives, many of them at night, and licensed a spin-off product of his research (a patented fluorescent protein) to a biotech company.

He is currently a senior scientist and speaker for CMI-USA in Atlanta, Georgia, where he lives with his wife, Leanne, and children and is currently researching human genetics and other issues related to biblical creation.

The Alternative: Creation’s Competitive Edge – Dr. Rob Carter @ Emmanuel Baptist Church of Snohomish
Oct 30 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Sunday Morning, October 30

Dr. Rob Carter, Senior Scientist at Creation Ministries International, will be with us at the worship service at 10:30 AM, and during the Sunday School hour at 9:00 AM.

Sunday School: The Science of ‘Race’ vs. the Biblical Worldview of Humanity

The subject of ‘race’ is a hot-button topic in the world today. The biblical answer is clear. The scientific answer is also clear. And they both say the same thing — there is but one human race and humanity has not been on this planet for more than a few thousand years. Modern DNA analysis has destroyed 150 years of evolutionary, racist, and/or eugenic storytelling. In the end, this is a Gospel issue, as all people descend from Adam and are related to our “Kinsman Redeemer”, Jesus Christ.

Why Should Anyone Believe The Bible? – Dan Kreft @ Calvary Chapel Eastside
Jan 22 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am

Why Should Anyone Believe The Bible?

Description: Why should anyone believe the Bible? If you think you’re about to hear about a bunch of evidences or arguments for the truth of Scripture, you’re in for quite a surprise….because it’s not about evidences, and it’s not about arguments. Basically, it’s not about you at all.

Speaker: Dan Kreft, the Seven-Foot Apologist, is a teacher, speaker, and author of the three-volume book, “Jesus” Is Not the Answer to Every Sunday School Question. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from Northwestern University, played professional basketball for three years, and is a recovering software engineer of over twenty-three years. In addition to his own ministry, Dan also serves on the board of directors for the Apologetics Forum of Snohomish County, and is an adjunct teacher for Creation Training Initiative. Dan lives in Bothell, WA with his wife Adair. They have four kids, a dog, some cats, and a flock of free-loading chickens. He is also quite fond of Oreo® cookies and Lucky Charms®.

Dan has been teaching practical theology and apologetics to pre-teens through adults since 2003. He has a reputation for provoking his students to thought with challenging questions and for rejecting shallow, “generic Sunday school answers.” His unconventional approach to Sunday school is captured in his three-volume book “Jesus” Is Not the Answer to Every Sunday School Question, which brings the reader into his class as he equips students to answer questions including “Why should anyone believe the Bible?,” “What is and when was the Beginning?,” “Did God use the big bang?,” “Why is the divinity of Jesus such a big deal?,” and demonstrates how to talk to Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and skeptics. Dan’s three books are available on amazon.com.
